CBC Drama Club Georgetown: Exploring the Essence of the Performing Arts
Welcome to the Georgetown inaugural session of the Communication By Captivation (CBC) Drama Club, hosted by John Rodgers. This ongoing series of gatherings is designed for theater enthusiasts of all levels to explore the rich tapestry of the performing arts, from ALL aspects.

What to Expect:

• Introductions (10 minutes): We will be kicking off each gathering with a warm welcome and brief introductions to foster a sense of community as well as important announcements.
• Theater Spotlight Reflections (15 minutes): Dive into discussions about notable performances, trends, or themes in theater, encouraging participants to share their thoughts and insights. This will include observing a video selected by the host, in which everyone will be encouraged to make written reflections to be shared with the group.
• Subject of the Day (30 minutes): Each week will focus on a specific topic—ranging from technical elements like lighting design to practicing and delivering monologues, or exploring influential musical theater composers and significant eras in theatrical history. This first week, will be a grand overview of what makes theater and all the different aspects to it.
• Group Performance Project (25 minutes): Members will have an opportunity to collaborate with others, all with different interests and skills, in order to create spontaneous theater, right there in the meeting room! What DOES happen when you put a scriptwriter and a set designer in a room together?!
• Debrief and Review (10 minutes): We plan to conclude each session with a reflective discussion, reviewing key takeaways and planning for future gatherings.

Whether you’re a seasoned performer, an aspiring playwright, or simply someone with a passion for seeing shows, the CBC Drama Club invites you to join us in fostering creativity, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of the art form.
