CC Riders Annual Picnic and (mostly) Right Hand Turns Ride

Details

When you RSVP for this one, please post a comment if you will be going on the ride only, the picnic only or both. This is to make sure that Rick has a head count for the ride part of the day and Lynn knows how many people she will have for the feeding part of the day. Family and guests are welcome at the event!

(Mostly) Right Turns Only Ride Details:
This annual ride was initiated to emphasize the improved safety and efficiency of traveling routes that utilize only (or mostly) right turns. Chief among these safety factors is the avoidance of oncoming traffic when turning left across several roadway lanes.

  • Time: Arrive gassed up and ready to go by 9:30 a.m. for the pre-ride briefing. KSU will be at 9:45 a.m.
  • Where: King Soopers at 9983 Wadsworth Parkway; Westminster 80021. There is a Shell gas station adjacent to the King Soopers parking lot. There is also a McDonalds in the same lot and a Sonic across the street (if you need breakfast) and a Starbucks inside the King Soopers (in case you need caffeine).
  • Route description: We will depart the King Soopers lot and make a few right turns to access 88th Ave/86th Pkwy, which leads west to Hwy 72-Coal Creek Canyon Road. At the west end of Coal Creek, we will turn right (of course!) on Hwy 119 and head towards Nederland. We will take a break in Nederland. From Nederland we will continue east on Hwy 119-Boulder Canyon Drive to Hwy 93 at Boulder. From this point our route will take us south and east on Hwy 36 back to Westminster and Mark and Lynn's home for the picnic. Total approximate distance is 65 to 70 miles, with a travel time of about 2 hours.
  • Note: Please add a comment on your event RSVP if you plan to join us for the ride.
  • For more information or details contact Rick Bowser, Ride Leader, at 720-341-3619.

Picnic Details:

  • Where: Mark and Lynn's house: 9503 Otis St, Westminster.
  • We are planning to start serving food at about 11:30 to noon-ish, depending on exactly when the ride gets back to Lynn & Mark's house.
  • We are planning a taco bar for this year’s menu.
  • If you have any dietary needs, please reach out to Lynn and/or Mark and let us know.
  • The plan is for the club to provide soda/water/tea, the tacos and fixings, a side dish or two and with dessert (ice cream sundaes).
  • If you wish to bring something for the meal, we will be happy to have it and put it out-but it isn't necessary. We always have sufficient food at hand and Lynn has been overcooking for such events for years-she is unlikely to stop at this late date. :>
  • If you do want to bring something, please let Lynn know what it is so that we don’t end up with duplicates.
  • If it is needed, please reach out to Lynn and we can arrange a time to meet you prior to the picnic for pickup/dropoff of items. Either Mark or Lynn will also stop by the ride start to grab anything there that needs to come straight to the picnic.
  • When we get closer to the event, we will reach out to folks if it looks like we are going to run short on tables and/or chairs for the event. :>
  • If you have any questions on the picnic side of things, please reach out to Lynn at 303.949.1229 or to Nancy.

We hope to see you all for the entire day, or just one part or the other. We always have a good time with it!
