Firefox OS, a startup opportunity. (Joint event with Mobile Startups TO)

Details
Kicking off the year 2014, we are excited to introduce Firefox OS, a startup opportunity!
A quick note about this event before I get into the description. Following our plan for 2014 and right on the heals of a collaborative event in December, we’re looking to do more joint events with many amazing groups from around North America. If you haven’t had a chance to see some of the other groups in your area, I strongly recommend that you look to see what new ideas, technologies, and interests are out there. My first recommendation is the amazing team at Mobile Startups TO (https://www.meetup.com/Mobile-Startups-TO/). They were founded at about the same time that the HTML Toronto group was (back in 2011), are run by an absolutely amazing team of people and are big proponents in building communities. One of the things that I’d like to show all of you, and partially because I think it’s a great tool), is the Learn Toronto (http://learntoronto.org/) site that they’re working on.
Please feel free to register on either of our group’s pages. The total capacity is 100 and we’ve split the registrants up between us.
As a startup, looking forward to growing the reach, and to improve the sustainability of your product is one key to success. What’s better as a platform than the web itself? In this talk, Frédéric Harper (http://outofcomfortzone.net/), Senior Technical Evangelist at Mozilla, will show you how you can use HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to build amazing mobile applications as to brush up what you previously published. Learn about the open web technologies, including WebAPIs, and Web Activities, which enhance the developers’ toolbox. Let’s not forget the tools designed to get you started developing HTML apps for Firefox OS, and the web.
Firefox OS (also referred to by its codename "Boot to Gecko" or "B2G") is Mozilla's open source mobile operating system based on Linux and Mozilla's Gecko technology. For Web developers, the most important part to understand is that the entire user interface is a Web app, one that is capable of displaying and launching other Web apps. Any modifications you make to the user interface and any applications you create to run on Firefox OS are Web pages, albeit with enhanced access to the mobile device's hardware and services.
Bring your questions and ideas to this session, we hope to see you there!

Like with all out events, we are charging $5 in advance but you can expect that we’ll have platters of food and beverages available for you at the event. I’ll also have a couple of tickets to give away to some up-coming events.
