Sunken City is an area of a former 1929 housing development that had a slow moving landslide towards the water. Streets, driveways, foundations, street trees . . . all slowly migrating.

    We will go visit.

Grunion are a small ocean going fish that spawn by running on the shore for what amounts to a giant fish orgy. And for this event we go and watch. I am not sure which element is more disturbing the that sentence. Whichever one is does not matter, . . . as the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium celebrates it all.

From March through July, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium presents special evening programs to introduce us to the unique and elusive grunion. On this eve, the Aquarium opens at 8 p.m. Guests must arrive before 9pm to participate in the full program in the auditorium, followed by a guided observation. Dress warmly and bring a flashlight to spot grunion at the beach.

Come in style to the Grunion Fish-tival! Wear a grunion-themed aluminum hat to greet the grunion and shield yourself from the cosmic rays of the moon.

Hatch grunion eggs, participate in grunion arts and crafts, watch a classic grunion video, interact with grunion researchers, touch live tidepool animals and see the many fish and other live animals in the Aquarium.

Don't miss your chance to test your GQ (Grunion Quotient), or guess what's in the Mystery Box! After participating in fun grunion activities, everyone will head to the beach to observe these enchanting fish. Warm clothing is recommended.

Program admission is $7 for adults and $1 children/seniors/students with I.D.
Recommended to pre-purchase your tickets ahead to guarantee admission. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE YORU TICKET https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E9935&id=20 (make sure to choose Fri Apr 7)

  • Everest Base Camp YOGA TREK!!!! Nepal Trip!!! w/ helicopter ride down from EBC

Overseas Event. You depart from LA with others

Now is the time to give yourself the gift you know you deserve of an adventure you will never forget.

This is impossible if you go solo. And PERFECT as a meetup where we pool resources to make it with safety, support and camaraderie. CLICK HERE to see attendee photos of the 2022 EBC trek

WE HAVE MADE IMPORVMENTS BASED UPON LAST YEAR.

    1. We are ADDING Yoga and Meditation, and a local expert TO BE WITH US to guide in Buddhist practice and local culture.
    2. We are ADDING two days while going up to better acclimatize.
    3. We are ADDING a HELLICOPTER FLIGHT from our highest camp back to start point AND REMOVING two days going down by taking the flight.

To clarify. We are NOT going up to the top of Everest (29,000’)
We are going to Everest Base Camp at 17,600’
Our starting elevation will be in Lukla at 9,400’

You need to be of average or better fitness. If you can manage walking 3-6 hours a day, up and down a hill while carrying a light daypack, you will be OK! If you are very fit and work out and train, you will be at the front.

Professional guides and Porters to carry our gear are included. All that is left for us to carry is our water, snacks and camera.

But I don't have the needed gear?!
Sleeping bag and parka, rated to -10C are provided and walking poles too!

    Does this include food?
All meals on the trek potion are included.

    What is lodging like?
We are sleeping in a series of "Tea Houses" along the route. You will have a bed in a shared room with roommate (from the group). Sorry, a solo room will not be available on this trip. We will pair up everybody.

How dangerous is this? What if I get sick or hurt?
This is NOT the summiting Everest with people dying from bad choices. We will be walking on an established, well used trail the entire time, and NOT on snow or ice. Stats from past years show that 30,000 people a year do the EBC Trek. With all that said, . . . our trip INCLUDES emergency insurance. We are also Certified Wilderness First Responders.
Plain and simple, safety is our primary goal. We will have an experienced guide and porters, and we will be along the entire way.

    How much does this cost?
Everest Base Camp Trip $3750 - 16 Days, land only (airfare not included)
For this trip we don’t offer single occupancy and we match you with a roommate if you don't have one.
For those who opt to book the group AIRFARE from Los Angeles (LAX):**

  • FREE CAMPING for Big Pine Lakes. Volunteering Event!!! Tues OR Thurs Arrival

This event is a strange one. It can only happen if the weather is in our favor.

Snow is very much projected to be early.

Accordingly the event is boing moved to the start of the thaw.

So we move the date for the Free Camping with Volunteer to the Start Of The Season. Same deal . . . . Event is on ONLY if snow permits.

FREE CAMPING for VOLUNTEERING w/ breakfast, lunch and dinner on FRI included.

This is a different kind of event.
It's a fair trade. You get to camp at a fab site right at the trail-head to the Big Pine Lakes.

The trade is that on Fri you put in some good volunteering. And in exchange you get some free food, some exercise, some community, AND you get to do some good

Here are the details. You will get free camping in return for putting in eight hours of volunteering on Friday. Friday/Volunteer Day will also include breakfast, lunch and BBQ dinner.

Want to go? You need to fill out the form

    Here are the finer details.

Thurs : Arrive anytime you wish. Even at late as 1AM
    Fri Volunteer Work Day
Sat : Hike Day, Play Day, Fun Day
Sun : Pack up and head home

The Breakfast/Lunch/BBQ Dinner Is provided ONLY Friday Volunteer Day

WAIT . . . . I forgot to ask . . . What kind of work is this? What do I need to bring for it?

The camp is vintage. Painting . . . Moving some smaller rocks and re-building some smaller rock walls. There be a little bit of moving some gravel to fill some road holes.
Pretty much . . . the kind of stuff that many hands make light work.

Bring with you some leather work gloves. If you have a wagon that don't mind getting some use . . . bring that too. A dust mask is nice to keep from sandy dust that gets kicked up. But then again . . .at the moment many of us have many masks on hand.

Ok. I am fine with bringing some leather gloves. What else do I need?

All the regular stuff you need for average tent camping. Tent, Sleeping bag, Sleeping pad (yoga mat), clothes/layers, cooking gear, food, fire-wood, etc . . . and all the other etcetera's.

    Got questions?
Can I bring my dog? (yes)
Can they go on the trail hiking. (yes)

I think this is great, but can't make it!
Or whatever your comment or question is . . .

This is NOT a first-timer or beginner event. It will be rather cold as it is early in the season.

    AND/OR if you have questions?

Let's look closer at this sched. First of all . . .this is a guide, and NOT hard in stone. There is going to be shifting of times and adjusting as we go.

The one thing that is NOT flexible is our depart time.
THIS WILL BE FIRM!!!!! BE EARLY TO BE ON TIME.
We are leaving 7:30 AM SHARP
It gives 3 hrs there and 3 back (and 1/2 hr float).
If you look you will see it gives us generous time per location and time for getting on and off and travel between.

But again . . there is flexibility within this. We can linger longer or bail early of the place is just not working for us..

All of these wineries are on many of the Paso Robles top ten best wineries lists.

    Once again . . . this INCLUDES:

    • Visits to 5 wineries
    • All listed tastings included
    • Transportation from LA to Lompoc and return.
    • Transportation to all the wineries.
    • Coffee and morning pastries included
    • Lunch bites included
    • Dinner included
    • What a win!

Cost is $237 Per Person. Click here for Secure Payment Link
CLICK HERE for our Attendees Form OR the "I am interested form"

This event is limit in size to 15 people. And will fill as our past wine events have.

This will be cross posted on other groups. The only way to secure your space is payment.

The number of RSVP's does not reflect all who have rsvp'd or paid

Event payment links will be removed when we reach 15. Do not delay.

    Refunds?
Refund if notice is given if cancel 2 weeks in advance of departure date and time.

Less than 2 weeks notice: 100% credit given toward any future event we lead.

All in all this will be a fun social evening where we accidentally learn something together.

    This is all sounds great.

How much does it cost? Oh yes . . . The cost is FREE!

That's a bargain even at twice the price!!!!

So why not splurge and come and share your time with us.
For an online event hopefully you will feel as if you have visited far off places and times. And maybe even see yourself in the those places and scenes.

We have been watching other artsy fartsy things being done. They tend to be essentially a power point. When it says "lecture" you better run!! There is no dynamic discussion or engagement. No interaction and no social.

Just like anything else we do . . . ours will be different.

We will come out the other side richer for the experience.

Yes. This does mean there is no canned script.

On the day of the event you will get an email 2 or 3 hours before more in-depth info of what covering and the zoom links.

For those not aware I do have classical art training, as well as years of working within the art industry with curators, conservators, collectors, artists, museums, studios, institutions etc. So we will make this all very worthwhile.

Now some background . . . Before the pandemic we did plenty of Artsy, and Artsy Adjacent events (no need to bore you with those now).

With the pandemic we did move to online and to doing a Weekly Art Soiree Zoom. We would try and alternate weeks between a "place" (like a museum) and a "concept", "movement" or artist.

As things lessened we did change that to once every two weeks.

Here are the changes we are making for the new year. We will switch to Once A Month . . . BUT we will make it 1 1/2 hrs on a Place, and the other 1 1/2 hr on Concept, Movement or Artist

What follows is the NEW SCHEDULE for the NEW YEAR. Do be sure to read past the schedule as I am including some of our In Person Art Events in the New Year too . . . !

Join us in this Art Adventure Social Soirée. Make some friends while learning and sharing, and sharing some learning.

IF you went to any previous Art Soiree you do NOT need to re-fill-out the google form.

    FUTURE EVENT DATES and Topics.

RSVP on any of these specific dates and show your interest on those. Or to add comments of what to cover.

The date/subjects above . . . are subject to being swapped, moved,

added, or otherwise nuanced as the year goes.
