Itinerary:
We will hit all of the top visiting spots in this Big Island itinerary plus more. The detailed itinerary will only be shared to those who are confirmed. Plus we are renting 2 jeeps; one itinerary for folks looking to get more items done and another for people who prefer a more relaxing itinerary.

April 23: Travel to Big Island

• Wrap up your work by 5pm and take plane ride to KONA Airport
• Get Jeep Rental

April 24-26: Explore KONA

• Lots of tours

• Lots of snorkeling

April 27-30: Volcanoes National Park, Green Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach, and Puna

• Drive famous scenic drives
• Go to famous colored sand beaches

May 1-3: Hilo and Waimea

Camping:
Most days we are staying in hostel but some days in more remote locations like VNP we are camping so you will need to bring camping gear.

Cost:
The cost is $1500 total for all Lodging and Tours. All other costs you will need to cover. It is not possible to remove one of the tours to get a cheaper cost since they come as a package and we have limited vehicles. You can always refuse to participate in the tours at any time without refund though.

To get a spot simply send an attendance deposit of $500. The remaining $1000 is due March 23.

Helicopter Tour
Helicopter Tour is the only one not currently covered yet because I want to talk to confirmed members first before booking. This is because there are requirements to be able to go them.

Accommodation Availability:
Hostel and camping spots booked for 8 people.

Refund Policy:
March 23th is the last day for guaranteed full refunds. Afterwards refunds are only possible if all spots are filled and someone on waitlist can take your spot.

Waitlist:
The waitlist is ordered so those who get on waitlist first have priority over later joiners. Paying the $500 attendance deposit secures you a spot on the waitlist if the event is full. If a spot opens up then I will reach out and ask if you're interested in joining. If you are interested then you can join us and if not then I'll refund. Anyone who doesn't get off waitlist by the start will be refunded.

🌿 Seaweed Harvest Adventure at Lisabeula: A Bounty of Oceanic Delights! 🌊

Permission to harvest seaweed:
I have successfully petitioned Vashon Island Board Council to vote in a change in Vashon laws to allow seaweed harvesting.

Agreement to appear in Public Media:
Since it's relatively unknown that harvesting seaweed on vashon is allowed, I am looking to reach out to media to publicize more information for the public. This is likely to involve agreeing to release some of our photos of our trip so everyone will need to agree to this before being allowed to join the trip.

Season:
We should be in peak season right before seaweed starts to spawn in the summer. This is where we expect it to taste best. As a bonus we are going before any red tide can appear.

Seaweed species:
I have confirmed sightings of the following species.

1. Bull kelp
2. Brown algae
3. Rockweed
4. Gutweed/Ulva

Regulations:
Read here for regulations. Please buy a shellfish/seaweed license.

Equipment:

1. Shellfish license
2. Wader(seaweed is better harvested from sea than on sand)
3. Scissors or knife
4. Foraging bag
5. Gloves
6. Waterproof shoes. Prefer waders or rain boots
7. Food to share and Cooking equipment for lighthouse quarters
8. Clam knife if you plan to eat cockles and butter clams and remove sand before cooking.
9. Your host will bring a scale

Accommodations
We are staying at 2 historic light house quarters at point robinson from 5/9-5/11 so 2 nights and can take up to 14 people. I cannot guarantee you will get a comfortable sleeping arrangement or that you won't need to share a large bed. The only way to guarantee you can sleep on your own is to bring a sleeping bag.

I am capping this trip to 14 people max who are staying at the lighthouse quarters. I'm not able to accommodate additional people past 14 since the quality of the event will go down. If you want to make your separate trip that is fine but I wouldn't be able to coordinate with you.

Cooking afterwards:
For those staying at Airbnb, we can cook at airbnb after harvest. If I end up allowing people coming for day trip to join us, you guys should bring your own portable grill and we can use the picnic tables at the park.
