Details
THE TOUR IS PROCEEDING SO FEEL FREE TO SIGN ON ANY TIME BEFORE THE MEETUP TIME OF 12:30!
In this tour we will cover Harlem Hospital murals, The Schomburg Center, The Original Swing Street (aka Jungle Alley), architectural gems 130-132 streets and several sites in between. We will end at a "to-be-determined" restaurant for conversation and a bite to eat. Be aware that the end time of tour/dining is an estimate! Those who RSVP for tour agree to have read this Description in its entirety before signing on.
All tour takers are required to wear a mask during our walk. Mask wearing may need to be forfeited for the tour guide depending upon oral clarity warranted to speak during the tour.
There is no fee for the tour however, tour takers may purchase Karen's book "Walking Harlem: The Ultimate Guide to the Cultural Capital of Black America" $15 (cash only) from 12:30-1pm, at the assigned meeting place, before the tour begins at 1pm sharp! Sign in and purchase books on hand before the actual tour begins with my assistant. The assigned place to meet for the tour will be sent to tour takers upon your RSVP. Donations are gratefully accepted at the tours end as well. Funds collected (for the book and gratuities for the tour) are used to off set various expenses of the organizer/s including 1) countless hours of research, often uncovering little known Harlem cultural gems, 2) time and planning for tour developments, 3) Semi-annual Meetup.com fees, 4) Annual Tour Guide license fees.
No shows: The limit for this tour is set at 15 pers and cancelations as late as one day before the tour or "no shows" may prohibit other people from joining the tour. Once you sign up for a tour we are counting on you showing up. However, if there is need to cancel it should be no later than one day before the assigned tour to take place. More than two cancelations and "no shows" will prohibit us from accepting you on a future tour.
In case of the prediction of heavy rain this tour may be moved to the following Saturday, July 24, 2021. Those who RSVP'd will be contacted individually on meetup.com
