Master Continuous Deployments

Details

Let's get 2018 started right with the first Austin Jenkins Area Meetup!

We have a special presentation from Steve Taylor who is the Chief Architect at OpenMake.

Presentation: Master Continuous Deployments Continuous deployment is often seen as the 'unicorn' in the continuous delivery pipeline. This presentation will demonstrate how open source tooling around application release automation can achieve continuous deployments from dev through prod, driven by Jenkins and Blue Ocean. Steve Taylor will cover some of the basic challenges that are faced when release automation relies on one-off scripting, and how freely available open source tooling can fill the gap to achieve full continuous deployments. The ultimate goal is to allow your Jenkins process to support pre-prod and prod deployments with all the transparency needed to satisfy the requirements of Ops, and shift left more of the deployment duties to the development team. Yes, we are talking full out DevOps.

About Steve: Steve has more than 20 years of experience in build and release automation and serves as the Chief Architect and Technology officer to OpenMake Software. He has worked with Global 1000 organizations in streamlining software development and defining continuous delivery, long before it was in style. DeployHub and Meister reflect his vision for multi-platform continuous delivery solutions that automate code compilation and binary packaging for easy agentless deployments. He is affectionately called 'the big giant head' by the OMS team, as he always has the answer for solving the toughest DevOps challenge.

Location: The Meetup will be hosted by National Instruments, on the first floor of building C (tallest building). The NI Campus is located across the domain in North Austin at 11500 N Mopac Expy, Austin, TX 78759. Coming from Mopac south you need to take the Duval exit, make a U-turn and then the campus entrance will be on your right.

You'll need to register in the lobby of building C, where Alejandro delCastillo (or another NI employee) will be waiting to escort people in. If you arrive late, just let the security guard at the lobby know that you are attending the Jenkins Meetup so he can call someone to take you in.

We will have pizza and beer courtesy of OpenMake
