What we’re about

In the United States, the last 10 years have seen significant changes in the way that law firms and corporate law departments are managed. Technology and process concerns are becoming just as important as getting the actual legal work done, and that situation is only going to accelerate. The skills necessary to succeed in the legal profession increasingly include not only technical legal knowledge, but also MBA-type knowledge, and particularly knowledge of finance, operations, and technology. In fact, some of the future leaders of the legal profession may not have law degrees at all.

These changes aren't just happening in the United States. They have already started in Mexico and other large economies. In some cases, these economies can simply "cut and paste" approaches developed in the United States into their own business environment, but in other cases countries will need a differentiated approach that is a better fit for their situation.

The purpose of this group is to spread information about trends and best practices in the business of law, both in Mexico and worldwide. Nobody has all the answers, so please join us to share your knowledge. Together, we can serve as a tremendous source of information for one another, avoid repeating the mistakes of others, and find ways to make the legal profession faster, cheaper, and better.
