Kayak Basics - Intro to Kayaking

This Intro to Kayaking event is for anyone just getting into the sport or that want to refresh your skills.

We will be Paddling in a sheltered area at Cherry Beach. We will go over paddling technique, how to properly use safety equipment, understanding balance and why people tip, how to properly and safely paddle into waves, and a few other skills.

We limit this event to 6 participants at a time to make sure we can help you as needed. Please RSVP. These spots fill up fast.

Your organizer and leader, Jeff, has 15+ years experience kayaking the great lakes, various rivers, and is trained as a guide. He regularly leads kayaking tours to the Toronto Islands and Tommy Thompson Park.

You can bring your own kayak or we can get you one from Toronto SUP and KAYAK located right beside the launch at Cherry Beach. The rental for a single Kayak is $40 (taxes and fees included) for our 1.5 hour event.

We charge a $5 fee to reserve your spot. We accept E-Transfer for the $5 rsvp and it's non-refundable unless we cancel the event due to poor weather or other causes.

Kayak Rental payments can be e-transferred or paid by cash when you arrive at the event. Kayak rentals can be refunded up until the day of event.

PFD (lifejacket) and all safety equipment required.

Kayak rentals include paddle, PFD, and all safety equipment.

Cherry Beach has FREE PARKING, Accessible by TTC (202 Cherry Street Bus from Union), and can be biked to along the Martin Goodman Trail.
