Event Limiters/Cancel triggers:
1. Chance of rain from majority of forecasters - above 38% in Asheville (always greater chance in higher elevations like the BRP)
2. Minimum of 4 attendees or more 1 day before event
Location/Directions: Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP): This is Mills River Overlook with views into Mills River area on the East and Canton/Candler/Clyde on the West (sunset views). Mile marker 404.5. If coming up Hwy 151 turn L at the BRP to first overlook on the R. Going from Hwy 191 it is about 12 miles headed towards Pisgah Inn and will be just before Hwy 151 intersection on the L.
Cell/Smart Phone Policy: During the evening……to make our events enjoyable for all the members, please be considerate… turn off your cell/smart phone for other than using it as a camera. We separate ourselves from our daily phone/text/social media attachments
We leave the heavy discussions (i.e. politics/religion/drama) at home!
We visit Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks that give us long distant views, open sky, no street lamps, stars, and maybe a sunset or moonrise.
These events are good weather dependent....so if forecast is close to 38% chance of rain or high winds, chances are we will cancel.....so, keep you eyes on your Meetup messages and the comment section of each event.
Bring your lawn chair, maybe a community snack, your favorite cigar/tobacco pipe (NOT for cigarette/vape smokers), something to put ashes and butts in (we are a leave no trace group), something to drink (your choice), a flashlight (preferably with a red light so we don't blind each other), an open mind, AND a good attitude. Also, keep in mind temperatures can be much cooler up on the Parkway. Bring layers!
Non-cigar smokers are welcome......You don't need to be a cigar smoker, but be willing to respect our choice.
By the way, I am not a cigar connoisseur, just happen to like a decent cigar outdoors once in a while.
