Anatole Broyard, Kafka Was the Rage
Details
We will meet to discuss Anatole Broyard's memoir, Kafka Was the Rage, an irresistible account of the avant-garde post-WWII Village literary scene. Broyard was an influential book critic for the Times and attracted public attention after his death in 1990 when it was revealed that he was of mixed-race ancestry and, for much of his life, had passed as white.
Kafka Was the Rage is readily available in a Vintage paperback edition...at less than 150 pages, a delightful late-summer/early-autumn read.
Paul has graciously offered to host our meeting at his home on the Upper West Side. The event address will be shared with attendees before the meeting. The event time has changed to 4pm!
