Hey all,

Let's level up are Binisaya by learning the Badlit script or Sulat Bisaya, which is indigenous to Cebu. This event is for beginners with the goal of being able to write some simple words at the end.

We will go over what is an abugida script, and the common pitfalls beginners fall into when using such scripts. We really don't want you to get a bad tattoo.

For folks that are more advanced, we'll try reading a few lines of Binisaya in Badlit.

For the more advanced and/or adventurous, try writing a few lines of poetry or an epitaph that one might have seen on bamboo strips before the Spanish.

As a heads up, my family is from different parts of Luzon, so I know this is a bit problematic, but I'll be sure to consult and invite a local tattoo artist trained in Badlit script to show a couple examples and explain the more intangible and deep aspects of Sulat Bisaya.
