The Equinox is a time of balance between light and dark, day and night, feminine and masculine. Join us as we explore mythic themes and ancient mysteries of this day.

You may wonder, Sun Goddesses? Yes!

One goddess duo is the Irish Grian (or Gráinne) and her sister goddess Aine. The Irish word for the sun is ghrian and the sisters rule over the winter and summer suns, respectively.

Balancing masculine and feminine: August 1st marked the high point of the sunny Irish God Lugh, and the harvest of barley and other grains.
September 21st however is a time when the most ancient goddess of the land, the Callliagh, steps back on stage and begins to reclaim her power.

There is a hollow stone cairn in Ireland which has marked the rising of the Equinox sun for thousands of years. The story is that as she was shaping the landscape and mountains, the Callieach stumbled and fell, dropping large stones from her apron, forming the cairns we see today on the hill of Loughcrew. Within one cairn, there is an exquisitely carved calendar stone, which is still lit up by the sunrise every Equinox, both Autumn and Spring.

We will discover more about the these ancient mysteries, and also reflect on the balance of light and dark in our own lives on this special day.

Sunday evenings have a Celtic focus, Friday nights have a Peruvian or general shamanic focus.

Some themes we can include:

  • The Celtic Wheel of the Year and seasonal ceremonies
  • Celtic Shamanism and the Sacred Landscape (e.g. Stone Circles, and the Hollow Hills filled with Earth Light)
  • Ancestors and the Otherworld
  • Shamanism is an Earth-honoring spiritual path. Some sessions will include an offering of gratitude for Mother Earth, and a short ceremony inspired by Peruvian or Celtic shamanism to send her healing energy.

Other topics in this monthly series include:

  • Shamanic journeys
  • Power Animals and Spirit Guides
  • The dimensions of Sacred Space
  • Shamanic dreamwork
  • Meeting and learning from your Chakra Animals
  • Soul-Retrieval and EMDR- Healing the Inner Child

Our groups are by donation. I am encouraging everyone to donate $10 to $30 for our beloved Pueblo Elder in New Mexico, Flo Yepa, to help with living expenses and to stay warm this winter. Prayers are always welcome as well.
