This month, we’re excited to welcome Centering Nature Leadership Team member and conservationist, Jacob Hake Figge, who will introduce us to Iowa’s Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management (IRVM) program and share tips on using native plants in home landscapes.

We are fortunate to learn from Jacob, who implements IRVM efforts in Dallas County and brings local expertise, with a degree in Animal Ecology from Iowa State University. His work helps protect and restore the native landscapes that define Iowa.

As the Iowa DOT explains: “Integrated roadside vegetation management (IRVM) in Iowa uses native grasses and wildflowers of the original predominantly prairie landscape, which are well-adapted for use on roadsides. Hardy and beautiful, native roadsides offer aesthetic, economic, environmental, and educational opportunities.”

Join us for an engaging conversation about Iowa’s native plants, the IRVM program, and how prairie restoration is happening right along our roadsides.

This program is hosted by the Centering Nature Team in partnership with Green Sanctuary. It is supported by the REACH program (Radical Engagement And Creative Happenings) from First Unitarian Church of Des Moines.
