The Centering Nature Team is excited to announce a winter book group on a nature-centered classic! Together, we’ll read and discuss A Sand County Almanac by conservationist and native Iowan Aldo Leopold. The book group will meet six times over twelve weeks, beginning January 27. REGISTER HERE.

A Sand County Almanac is a collection of essays that invite readers into Leopold’s vision of “the land ethic” and “interconnectedness.” Written well ahead of its time, the book blends relatable language with observations of seasonal changes, Midwestern wildlife, and the connection between our human lives and the natural world.

Join us for thoughtful conversation and reflection as we explore this timeless—and urgently relevant—book that may change how you see nature and your relationship to it. Please register to attend.

We will meet at First Unitarian Church of Des Moines, 1800 Bell Ave, Des Moines, in Griffin Hall on the upper level of the church.

This book group is co-led by the Centering Nature Leadership Team from First Unitarian Church of Des Moines and is funded by the REACH program (Radical Engagement And Creative Happenings) through the church.
