July 2, 2026 - After breakfast we will arrange pickup of rental cars from the airport and drive down to Waterton Park Alberta.
Journey south through Alberta cowboy country to Waterton Lakes National Park, where the Rockies rise dramatically out of the rolling prairies. You are now in the world’s first International Peace Park, formed in 1932 by combining Waterton Lakes Park in Canada with Glacier Park in Montana. Together, these parks form Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, a celebration of the friendship between Canada and the United States. Enjoy a relaxing first night at the Hotel Aspen Village - stay on the shores of Waterton Lake. Your hotel is centrally located in Waterton, the undiscovered jewel of Canada. Cafes, bars, shopping, wildlife viewing and nature walks are outside your door.
July 2 - 5, 2026 Waterton Lakes National Park
We will spend three full days here.
July 3, 2026, we will drive the “Road to the Sun” in Glacier National Park (USA)
A journey down Chief Mountain Highway, between Glacier USA and Waterton Lakes National Park, is a scenic experience in and of itself, as you thread your way amidst prairies, mountains ranges, and wetlands.
Chief Mountain Highway is a 29-mile scenic entrance road connecting Glacier National Park and Waterton Lakes National Park. Ending 13 miles north to St. Mary, the highway takes approximately one hour to travel. This gorgeous route features a range of scenery, including prairies, wetlands, and breathtaking peaks and valleys.
July 4, 2026, we will take the scenic 2 hour and 15-minute boat ride (covered in trip cost) on Waterton Lake over to the USA / Canada border where you can either take a 30 minute walk at the border (no Passport needed) or you can hike across the border for a longer hike (Passport needed)
July 5, 2025, we either can drive the Red Rock Parkway to the canyon drive to Bison Paddock Loop Road to see buffalo or hike the many trails in and around Waterton
July 6, 2026, we will head north through the beautiful Kananaskis Valley to Banff, a vibrant mountain town. We will take a shuttle bus to both Lake Louise and Lake Morane.

The road to Maligne Lake has some of the best wildlife viewing in the Canadian Rockies. Look for mountain goats, moose, elk, bear, bighorn sheep, caribou and bald eagles. Next, visit Maligne Canyon. Then, free time to explore Jasper, a charming small town with many shops.
July 10, 2026, Calgary
Another glorious day on the Icefields Parkway, this time travelling south. Each direction offers unique views. Ride across the surface of Columbia Icefield’s Athabasca Glacier on an all-terrain Ice Explorer (weather permitting). The meltwater from the Columbia Icefield feeds streams that flow into three oceans: the Arctic, the Atlantic, and the Pacific. Walk on the Athabasca Glacier. Next, a photo stop at turquoise-colored Peyto Lake. Then, descend to the Great Plains of Canada. Return to Calgary.
I have booked a hotel near the Airport on the evening on July 2026.
July 11, 2026, the tour ends. You can fly out or stay longer
