Join us at Detweiller Riverside park for a Mindfulness Nature Walk led by Master Naturalist Paul Resnick.
Unlike a traditional hike where the focus might be on mileage or pace, a mindfulness walk emphasizes a gentle, deliberate awareness of the environment. The primary goal is to simply be with nature—slowing down to engage our senses and connect with the present moment. This walk will offer a peaceful space to recharge.

If you are coming down Main Street make a right on Devonshire, left on Wilshire, left on Lincoln and parking lot is on the right.

Spend the day finding 25 objects (a scavenger hunt). At 6 pm we meet up at Storm Shelter Restaurant (it’s at the East Port Marina, about 2 miles north of Par-A-Dice casino) for dinner, drinks and to congratulate the winners. First prize is dinner (max $25). The list will be posted at 6 am. Simply find the objects and photograph them with your smartphone. The person, or team, with the most items wins. If a tie, it goes to the person or team with the earliest completion time. Second prize, desert (max $15), goes to the person or team with the best story about a tough or funny locate.

Q & A
- It only lasts one day. All photos must have a time/date stamp of Sat, Jun 13, between 6 am and 6 pm.
- Everything must be local. This means within Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties. If you live in the Bloomington-Normal area, you can substitute McClean county. If you live in the Springfield area, you can substitute Sangamon county.
- Everything is findable and the organizer (me) can’t play or help anyone. I’ll have a picture on my phone to prove that everything on the list is possible.
- You can cooperate with others. A group can be any size. However, an entrant can be only one person and all photos must be accessible from that person’s phone. So, get all the help you want, just make sure that you snapped the picture, or that your helper emailed the picture to you.
- Don’t send me the photos, just have them available for verification on your phone.
- This is not a promotion or gimmick, just a new activity for the group.
- It’s all for fun, so don’t take any risks to find and photo something. Get a good-enough pic or find the object elsewhere if you can’t safely and legally get close.

Remember…every photo must be taken on the day of the competition and taken within our home counties, so just scouring the internet for a screenshot isn’t good enough, you or your helpers need to actually go, see, and get a real pic, around here, on this day.
