Forest Park in Peoria is a hike we did about two years ago, and it is definitely worth visiting again. This 500 acre wildlife preserve is located between the Illinois River and the bluff that overlooks the river. This gives the park quite varied terrain with some decent elevation changes the further west in the park we go. This area is heavily wooded and fairly well trafficked, so bugs and sun are not too much of a concern. I have seen several animals in this park, including deer and wild turkeys.

We will hike for about two hours, and the terrain and elevation changes rate this one as moderate effort. I would put this effort in the same ballpark as hiking in Pere Marquette. If you can hike two hours continuously without needing a rest, then you should be able to do this one just fine.

One other note, pets are not allowed in this wildlife preserve.

Après will be listed as a separate event after this one.
