CANCELLED A walk through the Lee Valley Park (Bird Trail)

Details

Cancelled for this year. Hope to reschedule when safe to do so.

This is a new ten mile walk which runs through the northern section of the Lee Valley Park, from Roydon Station (West Anglia trains) to the Maltsters pub in Cheshunt. The walk is steady and suitable for anyone who considers themselves to be reasonably fit. Please wear appropriate clothing such as waterproof jacket and walking boots/shoes. Occasionally small sections of the route may be muddy. After a couple of hours’ walk we stop for a snack lunch at the Old Mill Café, or you may prefer to bring your own packed lunch.

Initially the trail follows the River Stort Navigation system. It then skirts the beautiful Glen Faba and crosses Dobbs Weir Lock. After a short detour through quiet countryside away from the Park, the route re-joins the River Lee Navigation system and crosses King’s Weir. Shortly afterwards it converges with other concurrently running walks.

The walk, now numbering many more walkers, finishes at about 5 p.m. at the Maltsters pub in Cheshunt where we have booked a private room and will be serving tea and cakes. Of course, being a pub, a full bar will also be available. You are welcome to stay with us at the pub and listen to talks. Many of us will be staying on into the evening for a soiree.

The Bird Trail is part of the Ancestor's Trail, an annually occurring event inspired by Richard Dawkins' popular science book. To find out more please go to the overall event Meetup page: https://www.meetup.com/Central-London-Humanists/events/263686957/
