CANCELLED A Walk in the Lee Valley Park (Plant Trail)

Details

Cancelled for this year. Hope to reschedule when safe to do so.

Starting at Cheshunt Station at about 1.30pm, we walk through the Lee Vally Park to Waltham Abbey. Here was can stop for a quick picnic before we set off again through the Lee Valley Park, up the Meridian Line where we will meet up with several other walking groups who have followed different trails. We will then continue the walk back past the lakes to Cheshunt.

The walk will be about 8km/6miles and suitable for children. Part of the walk will be on grass paths and through a plowed field so unsuitable for wheelchairs and prams.

During the walk, we will go back in time, discussing the evolution of plants. For those who wish, there will be an opportunity to make plant head-dresses to celebrate plants prior to joining up with some other trails walkers.

After the walk we have booked a private room at the pub and will be serving tea and cakes. Of course, being a pub, a full bar will also be available. You are welcome to join us in listening to talks by some scientist colleagues and many of us will be staying on into the evening for a soiree.

The Plant Trail is part of the Ancestor’s Trail, an annually occurring event inspired by Richard Dawkins’ popular science book, The Ancestor’s Tale. To find out more please go to the overall event Meetup page: https://www.meetup.com/Central-London-Humanists/events/263686957/
