Black History Month party: celebrating black humanism and freethought

Details

How are you celebrating Black History Month 2023?

Why not join the Association of Black Humanists and Central London Humanists for a party to celebrate black freethought? All are welcome!

We're offering an evening of poetry and personal reflections from leading artists and activists — plus a lively pub social afterwards! And all while raising money for charity - our drinks and snacks bar proceeds will go to the Sickle Cell Society.

What to expect
- Music, snacks, drinks, and socialising
- Stellar spoken word and poetry performances
- Black humanist activists and organisers reflecting on why a black humanists group is needed, history and achievements of Association of Black Humanists, and Humanists UK
- Opportunities to meet and make friends with like-minded freethinkers and get involved in future humanist programmes, socials, and campaigns
- Money raised from the charity drinks and snacks bar, going towards the Sickle Cell Society

When to arrive:
Arrive a bit early at 6 to enjoy maximum socialising time, and get drinks and snacks, for a 6:30 start to the programme.

Will the event be recorded?
Yes, the speakers and performers will be. And photos will be taken of the whole gathering. Please let the organisers know upon arriving - no problem if you don't want to appear in any photo or recording.

Is there a cost to attend?
We ask for £3.00 per attendee to help cover the cost of putting on events like this for our members (we do not have a membership fee). Contactless card payment will be available at the meeting.
