CONC's Weekend Explorers - Hike to sntsk'il'ntən - Black Mountain Regional Park

Details
There are lots of spring birds still arriving in the Okanagan, and the wildflower season is approaching its peak. That should be ideal timing for a hike into sntsk'il'ntən - Black Mountain Regional Park.
The hike is about 5 to 6 km, with about 200 m change in elevation. The trails are good, but maybe there will be some muddy sections.
Wear good hiking boots. The sun is getting stronger - so apply some sunscreen, and don’t forget a hat and sunglasses. (Of course, it might also rain - so check the forecast).
Note - ticks are now active - so plan accordingly. We don’t plan on wading through the grasses, so that should greatly reduce the risk of picking up any hitch-hikers. Beware of tick advice shared on social media; here’s a link to reliable advice from BC Health:

We will meet for sign-in and start our hike 9:30 AM Sunday from the Swainson Road Parking lot in Kelowna (See: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8qfQ3uXwp3bhyoWW9 ).
The hike takes about 2.5 to 3 hours, so our trek will likely overlap a bit into lunch hour, especially since we intend this to be a relatively leisurely expedition with ample time to enjoy the vistas and wildlife. If you drop a snack in your pocket it might alleviate some hunger pains, and offer you something to do while waiting for the “leader” to catch up! A drink for rehydration is also recommended.
There is no attendance limit to this event, but Meetup will limit it to 10 people.
The hike will be lead by Ian. See you Sunday!
NOTE: Participation in our activities is voluntary and by joining an outing you acknowledge the risks of injuries that may arise.
