CONC's Weekend Explorers: “Fall Colour by Bike”
Details
It’s a little early to assess the weekend weather, but local trees are showing off their best autumn colours. The south slopes are glowing with the colour of Western Larch – so this month’s excursion plan is for a cycling tour across the Myra Canyon Trestles. Dusky Grouse, Golden-mantled Ground Squirrels and Pika are also often seen along our route.
We will meet 9:30 AM on Sunday close to the new bird viewing platform at Thomson Marsh Park, and then drive to the parking lot at Myra, via the Myra Forest Service Road. The forecast is a bit uncertain. Pack a lunch, warm clothes and some raingear.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, there is a back-up plan: a cycling tour from Thomson Marsh to view autumn colours in Kelowna's arboretum and also along streets in the city’s south end.
Note 1: The outing leader is likely to have room for one or two bikes and people in his truck. Leave us a comment here if you would like more information.
NOTE 2: Participation in our activities is voluntary and by joining an outing you acknowledge the risks of injuries that may arise. Full membership in our club includes coverage for Public Liability Insurance, but note that others are not covered. Information to become a full (paid) member can be found on our website (https://okanagannature.org/) and others will be asked to sign a waiver to participate in our outings (https://okanagannature.org/Visitor%20Waiver%202022.pdf).
