Exploring the Clement Extension/Okanagan Rail Trail Corridor
Details
This Saturday, we will explore the southern flank of Dilworth Mountain where the Okanagan Rail Trail now resides, and the controversial, eastward extension of Clement Avenue is planned. This will allow participants to reconnoiter the former, 10,000-year-old shoreline of glacial Lake Penticton, in addition to the diverse plant and animal communities currently in residence. We will also assess what systems are likely to be lost or otherwise impacted by the road extension.
We will meet 9:30 AM Saturday close to 2140 Leckie Place in Kelowna (close to Westwood Cabinetry) to start our stroll. We expect to finish by lunch.
The forecast is a bit uncertain. Pack appropriately warm clothes and potentially some raingear.
