CONC's Weekend Explorers: WINTER WATERFOWL
Sunday Jan 25th, 9:30am

On this outing, we will be walking the Kelowna waterfront, focused principally on birdlife. Commonly a diverse array of waterfowl winter in the area, and the waterfront offers an excellent venue for novice birders. No experience necessary. If at all possible, please bring binoculars.

We will meet for sign-in and car-pooling at 9:30 AM on Manhattan Drive, parking close to Brandts Creek (approx. 1075 Manhattan Dr). There’s usually abundant free parking on Manhattan Dr (with no time restriction).

At about 9:40 AM, we will begin exploring the bottom 300 m of Brandt's Creek, before entering Rotary Marsh, and then meandering the 1 km of waterfront south to the Kelowna Sails. People with other commitments may turn around earlier, but the plan includes lunch at Tim Hortons (close to the sails on Bernard Ave). After lunch we will make the return trek to our cars.

(Don’t have binoculars? Fret not, the library has 20 Birding Backpacks available. Book yours now! See: https://orl.bc.ca/.../library-of-things/birding-backpacks )

We look forward to seeing you then.
