CONC's Weekend Explorers: WOOD LAKE GEOLOGY
Sunday Mar 29th, 9:30am

The next outing in the “Weekend Explorers” series will take place on Sunday, Mar 29th. We will meet for sign-in and car-pooling at 9:30 AM on Main Street in Lake Country, just south of the TD bank.
(See: https://maps.app.goo.gl/dJtYLHu5nWg3arkp8). There is plenty of free street-side parking in the area.

On this outing, UBC Okanagan geologist John Greenough will lead us on a driving tour around Wood Lake, looking at an array of geological features, while discussing the ancient origins and evolution of the Okanagan landscape. Ian will add to the discussion by outlining more recent environmental changes, ranging from the height of the last glaciation to the present-day.

Bring binoculars, boots and clothing appropriate to the weather. Since we will be making several roadside stops, please wear conspicuous clothing for enhanced safety (e.g., If you have one, a high visibility vest).

In advance of our trip, John would like to distribute a field trip guide outlining many of the features we will see. So, if you are interested in participating on this trip, leave us a message and we will send you the guide.

We look forward to seeing you then.

NOTE: Participation in our activities is voluntary and by joining an outing you acknowledge the risks of injuries that may arise. Full membership in our club includes coverage for Public Liability Insurance, but note that others are not covered. Information to become a full (paid) member can be found on our website (https://okanagannature.org/) and others will be asked to sign a waiver to participate in our outings (https://okanagannature.org/Visitor%20Waiver%202022.pdf).
