Psychedelic Book Club
Drop Thesis, 505 NW Franklin Ave., Bend, OR, US🥁 This month's book is The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. (Please shop locally at Dudley's Book Shop in Bend.)
The Creative Act is not a how-to manual for producing art so much as a meditation on the divinity of creativity that is a birthright in all humans. Drawing on decades of producing iconic artists, Rubin distills his philosophy into short poetic reflections on allowing inspiration to emerge naturally rather than forcing it. He describes creativity as tuning in to the unseen, receiving rather than generating, and surrendering to phases of seeding, experimenting, crafting, and releasing. For the psychedelic practitioner, his ideas may resonate with themes of surrender, intuition, and transcendence, framing creative expression as a portal to expanded awareness. This book invites readers to view creativity as an act of tuning into the divine.
In the Psychedelic Book Club we explore topics related to psychedelics, consciousness, metaphysics, the paranormal and more. Each month we choose a book and/or topic of interest to dive deep into. This is a welcoming space for sharing ideas, fostering community, integrating psychedelic experiences, and forming new friendships.
