We are so lucky to have Yube, an incredible resource and wisdom keeper from deep in the Amazon Rainforest come to us in Bend Oregon!
We will have an opportunity to share a delicious farm-to-table vegan meal prepared by Amanda Ramirez where we can network with other healers, medicine folks, indigenous supporters, and community members. Following that we will have a question-and-answer session with Yube, the Buddha of the Jungle. Truly, this human's smile and presence radiates peace and joy in a way I have not come in contact with in the Western World.Chief Yube Huni Kuin, is the Vice President of the Huni Kuin Federation and often referred to as the Buddha of the rainforest.
Yube is a spiritual and indigenous leader who radiates joy, gratitude, forgiveness, and his love for the forest and nature. Coming from a long tradition of Huni Kuin, he is one of the main carriers of the traditional Huni Kuin songs and ancestral stories his elders have passed on to him.He is an agro-forestry specialist and serves as the vice president of the Huni Kuin Federation (Fepach) for 116 Huni Kuin villages. He was Secretary of AMAAIAC (Association Movement of Indigenous Agro-forestry Agents of Acre) from 2002 to 2008 and the advisor for Indigenous Affairs with the Government of the State of Acre from 2011 until 2019. He will be sharing with us his deep understanding of the lungs and heart of our planet.
Who are the Huni Kuin?
The Huni Kuin are often called the last guardians of the Amazon rainforest. They have lived in ecological harmony with nature for thousands of years; their culture, history, and entire existence depend on it. They are to this day, the largest indigenous population of the Brazilian state of Acre, currently living in 116 villages on twelve Indigenous reservations along seven different rivers, including the Purus, Envira, Murú, Humaitá, Tarauacá, Breu and Jordão.The Huni Kuin play a key role in the protection of uncontacted tribes as they occupy and defend the territories where some of the last uncontacted tribes in the world reside. The Huni Kuin had relatively late contact with the world and despite years of persecution, their beautiful traditions and spiritual practices have triumphed and to this day are practiced throughout Huni Kuin villages.
The Huni Kuin have been healing with medicinal plants for thousands of years as they are an intricate part of their culture. "Huni" means "true" and "medicine" and "Kuin" means "people," and therefore, the Huni Kuin are the people of the medicines and their mission is to guard the rainforest and the planet for future generations.

- C.O.P.S. Third Thursday Book ClubDrop Thesis, Bend, OR
🥁 This month's book is...
Magic and Mystery in Tibet
Sometimes the next book chooses us—and that’s exactly what happened here. Through a series of synchronicities, Magic and Mystery in Tibet made its presence known to several of us, and we’re taking the nudge.
While not a psychedelic text in the traditional sense, Alexandra David-Néel’s classic is a deep dive into the mystical practices of Tibetan adepts—covering everything from telepathy and levitation to long retreats in Himalayan caves. Her firsthand account blurs the line between the inner and outer world, the mystical and the miraculous—making it an ideal companion to our ongoing explorations of expanded consciousness.💬 💭Join our lively Signal thread, get reflection/discussion prompts for the book, and discover more ways to connect at https://www.fromthefortress.com/COPSbookclub
📚 You're welcome at the C.O.P.S. Psychedelic Book Club, where we gather and connect every third Thursday to discuss books that illuminate the transformative potential of psychedelic medicines and explore all things intellectual, mystical and consciousness-expanding. ✨
