3 Creeks Sno Park to Jeff View Shelter, 692' e.g., 4.6 miles, opt. 1 nt.
Details
Day hike or optional 1-nighter. Stunning views of Mt Jefferson!
Location: Upper Three Creeks Sno Park
What to expect: We will be snowshoeing along a designated trail up to the shelter. There is an initial climb, then from there, it's rolly. When we arrive at the shelter for those that wish to camp, there are woods to put our tents into. NO water sources. Bring extra guy lines for your tent; sometimes it gets windy up there.
We'll be having all of our meals inside the shelter.
Takes 45 minutes to arrive at TH. The shelter affords a wood burning stove with plenty of available firewood.
What to bring: the 10 Essentials (bring these if you are only day hiking), all your gear, cold weather clothing. 1 lunch, dinner, 1 breakfast. Headlamp with fresh batteries. I'll recommend bringing hiking poles with snow baskets to aid with stability. Just in case, I'd bring a pair of microspikes.
I'll update the trail conditions as we get closer to the day--that'll spell out the need for snowshoes, spikes, as well as whether we hoof our gear up, or make our way with sleds.
I'll need a couple of drivers with snow park passes to volunteer their vehicles. Upon our return up through Sisters, we may elect to debrief nearby or back at the the Midtown Yacht Club.
Please state in the comments are if you will be camping out (with me).
