Snowshoeing to Swampy shelter, 3.5 miles total
Details
This is a fun snowshoe outing. Fingers crossed for a bluebird day!
.
As snowshoeing is an aerobic activity, and this hike may be the first real outing for many of you, the pace will be slow to moderate. Layer up folks!!
What to bring? a daypack, the 10 Essentials, an extra set of glove or mittens, socks (placed in a baggie), and a pair hand or foot warmers, a rainshell, one-two liters of water, and your lunch along with a couple of snacks.
If you're a newbie to snowshoeing, this is a good event for you. I DO recommend you bring poles with snow baskets for stability. IF you are new to snowshoeing, let me know in the comments area.
Upon arrival at the shelter, if there's not already a fire in the stove, I'll start one--in little time it'll churn out comforting warmth.
I will need a couple of drivers with sno park passes to volunteer their vehicles. It takes approximately 40-45 minutes to arrive at Bachelor. Everyone chips in $5 for gas.
Upon our return, we may wish to debrief at the Oblivion Pour House Grill.
.
The end time is approximate.
