February is Black History month. We are offering 4 different non-fiction selections. Please read whichever one you want. We will be discussing the common themes prevalent in Black History and for Black women.

Book Selections:

  • Don't Let Them Bury My Story: The Oldest Living Survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre In Her Own Words by Viola Ford Fletcher and her grandson Ike Howard.
  • This book is incredibly hard to find. I was only able to get it as a hardback through Amazon and isn't scheduled to arrive until Dec. 30th. It appears to have been a very limited run. If you can find it, it's 104 pages.
  • Black Birds in the Sky: The Story and Legacy of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre by Brandy Colbert
  • This is a youth-friendly book. It's available in all formats and is 224 pages.
  • His Eye Is On The Sparrow: An Autobiography by Ethel Waters with Charles Samuel.
  • Available mostly in paperback and is 304 pages.
  • This book is not about the Tulsa Massacre.
  • Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre by Carole Boston Weatherford
  • This book is very short at 32 pages and aimed at reading age of 7-12 years old.

The meeting is in the semi-private room to the right inside the front door.

All are welcome to attend if interested in discussing the book and/or its premise and themes. You do not have to read all or any of the book to participate.

Our meeting will change to virtual in the event of inclement weather. A Zoom link would be provided to all who RSVP.
