About us

Come discover the surprising interconnections among Central Park’s little-known flora, wildlife, waters, geology, and history. Step into cool streamside forests and shaded paths as we escape the summer heat and immerse ourselves in nature.

These explorations invite both adults and children to engage with the park intellectually, artistically, sensorially, and ethnobotanically.

We’ll also delve into the fascinating world of ethnobotany—exploring the edible, medicinal, and traditional uses of plants, their aromas, and the stories that connect us to nature and our ancestors across cultures and continents.

By the end of each walk, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Central Park’s natural history, an awakened connection to the land beneath your feet, and a renewed appreciation for the natural world. After walks, you will receive an email report with notes about all of the plants and wildlife we observed over the course of the walk to help remember, return to our discoveries, and share with others.
