Join us for a unique, sensory-rich nature walk that begins in the most formally cultivated garden in New York City—the Conservatory Garden—and unfolds into newly renovated native plant wonder that is the Harlem Meer.

We’ll start among carefully clipped hedges, vibrant borders, and multimillion-dollar plantings—but beneath that manicured beauty lies a living sanctuary. From Monarch butterflies to Italian wall lizards, and from rare pollinators to traditional herbal plants, this garden quietly hosts an astonishing range of wild life that coexists with design.
As founder of ReWild Long Island, your guide Jakim reveals how native ecology emerges even in our most cultivated spaces. We'll highlight plants with deep ecological relationships to species throughout the park and beyond.

From there, we’ll follow a winding route to the Harlem Meer, where recent renovations have created a seamless mosaic of geology, architecture, native plantings, and aquatic features including beautiful pond-edge walkways.
Whether you're new to Central Park or a lifelong lover of its hidden stories, this walk invites you to see its northern edge with fresh eyes—and wild wonder.

As you prepare for your walk, please note the following:

• Arrival Time: Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time so we can begin promptly.
• Weather Policy: Tours are held rain or shine, unless conditions are extreme or unsafe.
• In the rare event of a cancellation due to inclement weather, you will receive an email at least three hours before the tour begins.
• Payment Policy:
  Please do not pay in advance — this helps us avoid having to issue multiple refunds in case of weather-related cancellations. Donations or contributions can be made in person or after the tour if you’d like to support this program.
