Short & EZ hike on the Monticello Trail (5-6 miles)
Details
Join me for a short hike on the Monticello Trail and in adjacent Kemper Park in Charlottesville. If you want to get some hiking in but not give up your entire Saturday, this one's for you. We'll cover the entire out and back Saunders-Monticello Trail, plus a few miles in Kemper Park. At the top we will see if we can get in to the Monticello visitors center where there are restrooms and limited refreshments. To get in we will need to go through a security checkpoint so depending on the crowd, this part is optional. After completing the hike we will head back to the park and ride. For those who are interested, this would make a great full day trip for those who are interested in touring Monticello or checking out a winery. Sadly I have evening plans and need to get back early. But if anyone wants to organize an after hike event please feel free! Monticello is a quintessential Virginia destination, and I also highly recommend a stop at Jefferson vineyard and/or lunch at Michie Tavern. It is supposed to be beautiful this weekend-let's get out and enjoy a gorgeous fall day!
