Hike at Econ River Wilderness Area

Last month, the Central Florida Sierra Club helped push county commissioners to deny a road expansion that threatened the Econ River section of the Florida Wildlife Corridor. If you would like to learn more about this past proposal and what you can do if commissioners revisit this plan, consider joining us for a 2.2-mile hike at Econ River Wilderness Area on August 15th.

Our hike will take us through pine flatwoods, sandhills, and river swamp. Halfway through, you will get to see the Econlockhatchee River, which is one of the few rivers in North America that runs north.

At 8:00 AM we will meet at the Econ River Wilderness Area’s trailhead and begin our pre-trip talk. Keep in mind that this trail has limited parking, so it is best to arrive early to secure a spot.
