The World Future We Need
Because of business travel, the world future class normally scheduled for this Sunday will be postponed one week to Aug 18, still at the normal start 6:30pm time. Topic will be
All you wanted to know about nuclear war but were too afraid to ask
(I had a more provocative title, but on the advice of my frontal lobe I decided not to use it given that I still need to make it through TSA screening at airports on a regular basis)
Sunday, Aug 18th 6:30pm-8:00pm
Wildflower Church Community Room
1314 E. Oltorf St Austin, TX.
Mike Ignatowski
People can attend anytime, no need to register or attend all sessions in the sequence
This is not an official CTXWFS event, but it is given by a CTXWFS member and will be of interest to many CTXWFS members.
People can attend anytime, no need to register or attend all sessions in the sequence
General Description:This is the most interesting and important time to be alive in the history of the human race! Mike Ignatowski works in the hi-tech industry and has given many lectures on emerging technology and social trends. Starting this fall, he will host an educational and provocative series of monthly meetings at Wildflower exploring many interesting issues related to the future of our society. Sample topics will include: "Big History and Big Future", technology and unemployment, the evolution of increased cooperation, growth and sustainability, our moral instincts, and the implications of artificial intelligence and synthetic biology. The meeting format will include a presentation followed by a group discussion.
The meetings are intended to be very educational, so there is no need for prior knowledge or preparation for any of these meetings. The monthly topics will be posted prior to each meeting, and people are invited to attend any or all of the meetings as their schedule and interests permit.
