This easy to moderate 3-4-mile hike will take place at Raymond B. Winter State Park east of State College on SR 192. However, to save on fuel costs, cut back on emissions, and reduce the potential for getting lost, we will meet at, carpool, and convoy from the State College parking lot of the strip mall where the popular restaurants Rey Azteca and Quaker Steak and Lube are located (485 Benner Pike).

Let's meet at 10 a.m. at the top of this large parking lot. Look for Leon's bright orange Honda Fit. (We met in the same place for our recent outings to Bald Eagle State Park and Poe Paddy State Park.)

From the meeting place, we will take SR 26 to Pleasant Gap, SR 144 to Centre Hall, and then turn left on SR 192. We will pass through the quaint villages of Madisonburg and Rebersburg.

The route to RB Winter State Park is a scenic drive along Brush Valley Road (192) through the very heart of bucolic Central Pennsylvania and Central Appalachian farming country, well worthy of a "Sunday Drive" for its picturesque scenery alone. The corn crop is tall now. There may well be Amish families in their horse-drawn buggies on the road, so it is especially important to drive very carefully.

On the way back, for those who are so inclined, some of us will detour to The StillHouse Eatery & Craft Beverages in Spring Mills on SR 45 for a drink (or two) and a bite to eat.
