•OnlineAre the new ways we communicate changing us, our Society, our Civilization?
OnlineCFIC is continuing our series of town hall gatherings. Once a month, we gather on Zoom to discuss a selected topic relevant to our society and our democracy.
Join this month's discussion via Zoom on November 16th at 8pm EDT.
Yuval Harari argues that Homo Sapiens’ biggest advantage is not our brain power but the fact that we know how to cooperate on a large scale. Language and sharing of information, data, and experiences are, of course, critical prerequisites for cooperation. In the next Town-Hall meeting, we will discuss the impact of the new ways we communicate – emails, internet forums and social platforms – on our society, on us, the individuals, and in particular on the younger generations that live and socialize online.
Join the discussion via Zoom on November 16 at 8pm EDT.
Background material will be made available here one week before the meeting======================
Topics are selected by polling CFIC members and the wider public.
These meetings are not planned to be webinars; the format will be a moderated discussion in which the attendees debate and discuss. Our objective is to nurture a culture of respectful and open-minded discussion, thereby fostering democratic and participatory citizenship. The leadership team provides a background document to introduce the topic, and will also include some questions, available for download from the CFIC website a week ahead of the Town Hall meeting.3 attendees
