Join the discussion via Zoom, on August 10th at 8pm EDT.
Search Engine and Social Media Algorithms and Their Influence on Society
Search engine algorithms are the digital gatekeepers of the internet, determining what information appears—and what gets buried—when individuals seek answers. It is designed to optimize relevance and efficiency.
Social Media Algorithms objective is to maximize user engagement by showing content that users are likely to interact with, ultimately keeping them on the platform longer.
These invisible systems shape our behaviours, beliefs, and cultural norms.
