The Emerging Geopolitical World Order
Details
CFIC is continuing our series of Town Hall gatherings. Once a month, we gather on Zoom to discuss a selected topic relevant to our society and our democracy.
Join this month's discussion via Zoom on February 15th at 8 pm EST.
At the recent Davos forum, Mark Carney declared that the existing World Order has ruptured, and he outlined his vision for a new one. In this emerging framework, middle powers would work together to counterbalance and limit the global dominance of Russia, China, and the United States. Carney emphasized economic cooperation, pragmatism, and—importantly—respect for basic human and civic rights.
At our next Town Hall meeting on 15 February 2026, we will explore this proposed new order: how it differs from the current system, whether it is likely to materialize, and what challenges and risks it presents.
Please join the discussion via Zoom at 8:00 p.m. EST on 15 February 2026.
- Background document: coming soon
These meetings are not planned to be webinars; the format will be a moderated discussion in which the attendees debate and discuss. Our objective is to nurture a culture of respectful and open-minded discussion, thereby fostering democratic and participatory citizenship. The leadership team provides a background document to introduce the topic, and will also include some questions, available for download from the CFIC website a week ahead of the Town Hall meeting.
