Although this area gets really crowded on weekends it is still less known. But I bet you’ve heard of it: The insane Christmas decorations in Dyker Heights in Brooklyn. Let’s go on an urban hike of about 5 miles while getting mesmerized by endless lights and decorations.
I will wear my Mrs Santa costume just for the fun of it.
We will meet at the Cocoa Grinder coffee shop and then start our roughly 5 mile walk which starts at the coffee shop, walk towards 79th Street and 10th Avenue , going down to 13th Ave and end at 84th Street and 10th Ave.
After the walk we can grab some pizza at
Annabelle's Pastaria.

Some places that are on the MUST SEE list are:

  • Lucy Spata's Home: The house of Lucy Spata is purportedly the home that started the holiday tradition in Dyker Heights, and every year she adds more so it continues to be one of the best. Her house is located at 1152, 84th Street.
  • Polizzotto Home: The Pollizzoto's home, also known as Toyland, is another house that claims to be the first. Regardless of who started the tradition, Toyland is another worthwhile stop that specializes in animatronic characters. The house is at 1145, 84th Street.
  • Forest of Lights: This home has many trees in the front yard, and each one is covered from roots to every branch tip in colorful lights. The Forest of Lights is at 1134, 83rd Street.
  • Community Mayor's Home: While most homes go over the top with lights, this home goes over the top with giant inflatable characters. The yard has an army of festive balloons and is always a favorite. It's located at 8312, 12th Ave.
