What we’re about
Hello: I volunteer at the Scandinavian Centre in Burnaby, BC and I'm active with the centre and with the Finnish House Society and Canadian Friends of Finland, BC. We are keen on keeping alive the culture of Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Norway. You might have some DNA or you might just be curious.
We am hosting several events - right after the long weekend, on Tuesday in May we welcome a folklorist from Finland who will do a presentation on sauna, rituals and history. This is a drop in event at the center. You can reach me at finnfriend@gmail. com
Upcoming - an onsite or zoom workshop in May 2025 - the first session we held was well received and cost members $20 and non members $40.
At this moment I'm trying to figure out Meetup (how it works/costs related to it/if my audience is here). Our centre is in Burnaby and it is close enough to Vancouver, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Surrey - if you use the sky train, it is a 15 minute walk or a 4 minute connection bus ride.
