Dark-to-Light Gala (

Flickering candles, live jazz, a thoughtful meal, festive attire, and a dance party after dinner – the night will be ours! On this evening during the season when our hemisphere turns from darkness to light, we come together to celebrate humanity’s emergence into knowledge and reason, and to recognize science as a “candle in the dark,” as Carl Sagan suggested.

Let us take time together to enjoy the finer things in life and to celebrate the wonder of reality.

IMPORTANT: RSVPing on this event page will not guarantee you a seat. Our caterers and volunteers will plan the event only based on purchased tickets. Please go to the ticket link ( by December 6th to let them know you are coming.

Children are invited to participate, volunteers will be on hand to help to keep them occupied. There will be a play and sleep area for little ones during the celebration.

Entertainment with Jazz stylings by the Bill Lamb Band. Bill Lamb is the founder of the NW Science Expo, a retired science teacher, and a member of the band The Boomers.

Chef Tricia Dahms, a local caterer and talented chef, will be preparing our meal. She has earned her stripes through her years at Jake's Catering, and now hones her skills at Imperial on Broadway under Chef Vitaly Paley.

For the first time, we will put on the celebration almost entirely with community volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering, or donating an auctionable item, please contact Camille at [masked] or at[masked].

You will be asked for your dinner and dessert combination as a ticket choice. Dinner choices are: Pork Tenderloin, Roasted Root Vegetables, and Braised Kale with an Apple Mustard Demi Sauce or Steamed Mussels, Braised Greens and Crusty Bread. The vegetarian Option: Polenta cakes, Roasted Root Vegetables and Braised Greens - Dessert choices are: Flourless Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Glaze or Salted Caramel Apple Upside Down Cake
