What we’re about
The Center for Inquiry Western New York (CFI WNY) strives to foster a secular society based on reason, science, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values. We envision a world where people value evidence and critical thinking, where superstition and prejudice subside, and where science and compassion guide public policy.
A branch of the international Center for Inquiry, CFI WNY works to progress the above values in our local area through community building, educational efforts, and activism.
Our members are typically atheists, secular humanists, skeptics, agnostics, and other freethinkers. We host community lectures, coffee shop and bar discussion groups, potlucks, book club meetings, secular family events, social gatherings, and more—and we're always open to new ideas to grow our community!

Join us for Online Secular Sunday!
As humanists, we know that social interaction is essential for human happiness. Online Secular Sunday is a monthly event for secular and non-religious families and individuals to network and build a sense of community in a setting that does not require a belief in the supernatural.
To accommodate those in our community who are too far to travel or still uncomfortable meeting in person we will continue to have Online Secular Sunday Meetings on the 2nd or 3rd Sunday of each month.
Additionally, on the last Sunday of each month, we will have an IN PERSON Secular Sunday meeting at the Center for Inquiry in Amherst New York.

Join us Friday, December 19 at the Center for Inquiry as we gather for a family-friendly celebration of what we've accomplished in 2025 and to share our goals for the year to come. Enjoy engaging talks, music, and activities for all ages while connecting with others who value reason and wonder. We're looking forward to enjoying this annual secular tradition with our WNY community!
