The Book of Losman is a speculative novel about a literary translator in Copenhagen, Denmark with Tourette's Syndrome. When Losman learns of an experimental drug that may help him get to the root of his condition via his childhood memories, he becomes involved in an experimental drug study that allows him to re-experience long-forgotten memories. With intelligence and humor reminiscent of Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library, The Book of Losman explores the depths one man will go to make himself whole. Semmel shared his own experiences with Tourette's Syndrome in this April '24 essay in Huffpost. May is Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month.
