Orange County Environmental Protection Division (EPD) is hosting Fix It! Don’t Pitch It! A FREE community workshop 🔧

Volunteer Fixers will offer minor repairs of gently used everyday household items such as electronics, bicycles, jewelry, eyeglasses, watches, clothing and more.

The intent of this workshop is to encourage residents to extend the life of their belongings by having them fixed instead of tossing them in the trash when they get bumped and bruised. The paradigm shift will be a success when we consume fewer resources, respect our belongings and reduce the amount of trash we send to the landfill.

You will be asked to sign a waiver when you arrive? Why? Because the volunteer fixers are just that – volunteers, they are not paid professionals. They are very clever and will do their best to fix your items, however; some items may be beyond repair. Hence the waiver.

Residents who attend the event need to bring parts that may be unique to your item and required for fixing such as a tube for bike tires, patches for clothing and replacement batteries for watches. Remember to bring all charging cords and bring electronics fully charged.

We are in need of a bike fixer and a jewelry fixer. Please send me an email if you are interested and able to volunteer 🙂
