RECON- Ponce Inlet Halifax River Cleanup

Central Florida RECON (CFR) is hosting our first kayak cleanup in Ponce Inlet! After some location scouting, we have found a free public parking lot and public boat launch right downtown with access to the Halifax River and Braddock Creek.

The address on this event page will lead you to the public parking lot, the boat ramp where we will be launching from is right across the street. That address is: 4944 S Peninsula Dr, Ponce Inlet, FL 32127. (The event photo is a map showing where the two spots are located.)

As this location gets tons of traffic, we will be meeting earlier than usual at 8AM. According to the locals, the parking lot should have enough spaces available early in the morning. If you are able to, please carpool to reduce the number of spaces we need. If you are not able to find a spot to park, you may need to pay for parking at one of the restaurant's lots down the street.

CFR will have at least six fully equipped kayaks to use for the event. They are available on a first come basis, if you have your own paddle-craft please feel free to bring it. Once we launch everyone, we will split up and head down the river to pickup trash. We should be out on the water for around two hours.

For those who wish to stay on shore, CFR will have trash grabbers and buckets to share. There is plenty of area to cover here so shoreline volunteers are definitely needed! Please bring water to keep hydrated, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses.

You will be asked to read and sign a Cleanup Event Sign In and Indemnity Waiver upon arrival.

The event is scheduled for two hours, at the end we will combine all of our trash, weigh it and take a group photo.
