Please join Central Florida RECON (CFL) as we host another beach cleanup at Canaveral National Seashore (Apollo Beach)!

CFL has received an invitation to join Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day hosted by Cape Canaveral National Seashore on February 28, 2026 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Because cleaning up is what we do best, why not create a clean up event before joining their Volunteer Appreciation Day Party.

We will be meeting at 9AM at the Apollo Beach Visitor Center to collect supplies and submit the required volunteer forms. (If you attended a previous event here and your form is on file with the NPS, you do not need to fill out another.) We will clean up the Maintenance area and beach side if needed and combine all of our trash, weigh it and take a group photo then attend their party at 11:00am.

This event is a walking cleanup and no kayaks will be available. Trash grabbers, buckets, gloves and bags will be provided. If rain or heavy wind is in the forecast for the day of the cleanup, please check on Friday night for event updates. Bathroom facilities are available on site but please bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and water to keep hydrated.

The visitor center has extra forms but if you have a printer and would like to prefill one, the 2 page form can be found in the discussion section for this event. A pinned map screenshot will also be posted in the discussion section showing where we will be initially meeting.

Entry may or may not be free depending on the Ranger on duty at the entrance, please let them know that you are participating in the cleanup and Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day and they may waive the fee.

Lastly, please RSVP with your name in the comment since we need to inform the number of our group in advance. Also It is a potluck. If there is something you would like to bring, please do. The Friends of Canaveral will provide the main dish. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a side dish or desert.

See you at the beach!
