๐ 2026 Earth Day Cleanup ๐
Details
Join us for the 2026 Earth Day Cleanup as we partner with St. Johns' Riverkeeper to show some love to the longest river in the state of Florida, the St. Johnโs River (SJR). Central Florida Recon (CFR) will be hosting a cleanup in Orange County, Florida, while other groups will be hosting cleanups on the SJR in Brevard County, Duval County, Volusia County and Seminole County.
PLEASE READ:
Coordinates for where you need to go: 28ยฐ32'38.0"N 80ยฐ56'31.1"W Please enter this in to your maps app for more specific driving instructions.
The cleanup site is owned by the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) and does not have a street address. The name of the site is Seminole Ranch Conservation Area and there was a sign along the road that was blown out in 2025. Look for the CFR sign will that be posted in the grass at the entrance of the property.
Because this property does not have a street address, the address provided is an estimate to help you find the Seminole Ranch Conservation Area sign on east highway 50 (also known as E. Colonial Drive). The address provided will bring you near the trailhead you need to follow to the parking area. The trailhead however is on the north side of SR50 while the address leads to the south side. The trail used to be part of Cheney Highway before SR50 was constructed and on some maps is still marked as such. The cleanup site/SJRWMD Seminole Ranch Conservation Area is on the north side of the road. If you see the sign welcoming you to Brevard County you have gone too far east. Please see the discussion section for a screenshot of the area.
You will be asked to read and sign a Cleanup Event Sign In and Indemnity Waiver upon arrival.
Central Florida Recon will NOT bring kayaks to this event. ๐These waters are home to gators! No paddleboards. There is plenty of space to walk on foot to pick up trash and we will have a supply of trash grabbers and buckets to share, feel free to bring your own bucket and grabber with you. In 2025 we collected 540 pounds of trash from this property.
The event is scheduled for two hours. Before we start the cleanup, we take a group photo with the CFR banner. At the end we will combine all our trash and weigh it.
If rain or heavy wind is in the forecast for the day of the cleanup, please check on Saturday night for event updates.
The land is uneven; you will need to wear sturdy shoes for this cleanup. Bring a hat ๐ sunglasses ๐ถ sunscreen, plenty of water to keep hydrated, snacks and a friend. See you at the river ๐ฆ
