Avoiding Alert Fatigue: An Intro to and Hands-on Demo of Sensu

Details

Description: No one likes getting paged and up at 2am because of erroneous alerts. This talk will show you how to avoid alert fatigue and create a monitoring event pipeline using the open source tool Sensu.

Here's what we'll cover:
• A brief overview of Sensu and its capabilities
• A short discussion on the primatives you can use to compose your own monitoring event pipeline
• A hands on demo where you'll create your own pipeline using Sensu & Minikube

If you'd like to follow along with the demo, bring your laptop! To cut down on setup, you can install the following before you arrive:
• Kubectl
• Minikube
• Virtualbox

Bio: Aaron Sachs is a beer-brewing, banjo-playing, nerd who's been working with Linux for ~6 years. When he's not brewing up a batch of something awesome, or jamming with an old-time band, he's digging into all things monitoring at Sensu, where he's a Customer Reliability Engineer.
